Vee Kay Vees Caterers

We’ve been set up here in Maradu for quite some time now, running Vee Kay Vees Caterers. It’s a decent spot for us because we can get to most places around the city pretty easily from here. Our setup isn't anything you’d call fancy. It’s basically a big workspace where we do all our prep and cooking. Most days you’ll find us busy with vegetables and spices, getting things ready for whatever event is on the calendar. We don't really do the whole corporate image thing. We’re more about just getting the work done and making sure the food tastes like it’s supposed to. Some of us have been working in kitchens since we were kids, so it’s just second nature to us now. Maradu is a good community, and we’ve gotten to know a lot of the local vendors who supply us with our ingredients. We like to keep things straightforward. If someone asks for a dish we aren't great at, we’ll usually just tell them instead of trying to fake it. It saves everyone a lot of trouble. The vans are always coming and going, especially on the weekends when everyone seems to be having a party or a get-together. It's a lot of physical labor, cleaning up and starting all over again the next morning, but we’ve built a life out of it and we’re happy with how things are.
