Sri Gokulaparijathagiri Maize Farmers Producer Company Limited

We are set up at 9-55, right near the police station in Lakkavaram, Jangareddygudem Mandal. Being in West Godavari, maize is a big part of our lives here. This company was started by a group of us farmers who were tired of trying to sell our corn individually. We called it Sri Gokulaparijathagiri because it’s a name that means something to us locally. We aren't experts in business, we are experts in growing maize. But we had to learn the company side of things to make sure we weren't getting the short end of the stick. The office is a simple place where we meet to talk about prices, seeds, and who is planting what. It’s often loud and there is usually some tea going around. We don't have fancy brochures or a marketing team. We just have our collective harvest and our shared tools. Sometimes we struggle with the paperwork and the rules, but being together as a producer company makes it worth it. If you come by the police station, you can’t miss us. There is usually a tractor or two parked nearby. We just want to make sure the maize farmers in this mandal have a voice and a way to get their crops to market without too much trouble. It is a long process, but we are doing it together for the long haul.
