Atudkhas Farmer Producer Company is based in Mohana, which is a small spot out in the Khandwa area. We are located at Kantilal’s house. He is the son of Mangilal, and pretty much everyone around here knows the family. We are just a group of local farmers who thought we could do a better job if we worked together instead of competing. It is a very simple setup we have going. We don’t have a big office building with glass walls. Most of our actual work happens out in the dirt or sitting on the front porch talking through our plans. We focus on what the farmers specifically in Mohana need to get by. Sometimes it is about getting better seeds, and other times it is just giving advice on the right time to sell the harvest. It is not a fancy business with big titles or suits. We just use our collective strength to get slightly better deals for everyone involved. Khandwa can be a tough place to make a living when the weather doesn't behave, so having a group to lean on helps a lot. We have been part of this community for a long time. Everyone knows where Kantilal lives, so people just drop by when they have something on their mind. It is very informal. We don't use big words or have meetings that last for hours. We just decide what to do and go do it.
