Taj Sweet Shop

Taj Sweet Shop is located in Anand Vihar, specifically in the Sarad Vihar area. It’s a place that smells like sugar and ghee most of the time. We have large glass counters where we display the sweets we make every day. The kitchen is in the back, and that’s where most of the work happens. We wake up early to start boiling the milk for the khoya and getting the sugar syrups ready. It’s hot work, especially near the large kadhais, but we’ve been doing it so long we don't really notice it anymore. The shop gets very crowded during Diwali or Rakhi, and then we have to work extra hours just to keep the shelves full. On normal days, it’s a bit more relaxed. People come in to buy a few samosas in the afternoon or a box of laddoos to take to a friend’s house. We have a few people who have worked here for years and they know exactly how much of each ingredient goes into the mix. The floor is made of old stone and it’s seen a lot of foot traffic over the years. We don't have any fancy decorations, just the rows of sweets and some basic fans. It’s a local shop for local people, and we just try to make sure everything tastes the way it’s supposed to. We close up late at night once everything is cleaned. It’s just a simple life making sweets.
