Paras Nath Sweet & Namkeen

Being right by the Jheel Bus Stand means things never really stay quiet for us. We are at number 469 in Jheel Khurenja. Paras Nath Sweet & Namkeen has been part of this corner for a good while. Every morning, the milk arrives early, and we start heating the big vats. There is always steam in the air and the smell of sugar syrup. The buses pull in and out all day long, and people are always rushing to catch their ride. Some stop for a quick snack, others just look. We spend most of our time behind the counter or back in the kitchen area where the frying happens. It gets pretty sweaty back there. We make the usual stuff, things people like to eat with their tea. The glass displays get smudged from people pointing at what they want, so we are always wiping them down. It is a simple setup here. We have some stools, but most people just stand and eat. Sometimes the Jheel area gets flooded when it rains, and that makes things difficult for everyone. But we just keep the shutters open and wait for the crowd to come back. We are not a big chain, just a local shop trying to keep up with the daily rush of the bus stand. It is a lot of standing on your feet all day. It gets tiring but we are used to it.
