National Cottage Industries

You can find National Cottage Industries over in Shakarpur, specifically at B-34 near the Jain Mandir in the Main Market. Being near the temple means we hear the bells and the general buzz of the market all day. It’s a very lively area, and there’s always something happening right outside our door. Our shop and workspace are pretty traditional. We don't have air conditioning, just some old ceiling fans that hum away while we work. The space is filled with all kinds of items, mostly things made by hand. It’s a bit of a squeeze to move around sometimes because we have so much stock piled up. We’ve been in this part of Shakarpur for years, and we know most of the shopkeepers on this street. We spend our time checking the quality of the goods we get and talking to the people who stop by. It’s not a high-end mall experience. It’s a market shop where things are a bit dusty and the floors are worn down from years of footsteps. We take pride in what we do, even if it’s just small-scale cottage industry work. The light in the shop isn't great in the evenings, but we know where everything is kept. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living, right in the heart of a busy Delhi market. We just keep the doors open and see who comes in to look at our things today.
