Mukesh Halwai

I am Mukesh and I run this small place called Mukesh Halwai in the Krishna Nagar area. You can find us at A7/4, which is tucked into one of the side streets. It is not a very big shop, just a few of us working here every day. I spend most of my time in the back where the big stoves are. It gets very hot back there, especially during the summer months when the humidity is high. We don't have air conditioning, just a couple of big industrial fans that blow the air around. The street outside at A7/4 is usually crowded with people and scooters, so it can be a bit of a squeeze to get in sometimes. We have been here for years and most of the neighbors know us by name. We don't have a website or any of those modern things. If you want to know what we have, you just have to walk in and look at the counter. The paint on the walls is a bit dull and the floor is made of old stone, but we keep it clean. It is a lot of hard work, waking up early and staying late to finish the cleaning. We just focus on our cooking and serving the people who live nearby. It is a simple life and we don't try to make it sound like more than it is. We are just a local halwai shop doing our thing in Krishna Nagar.
