If you find yourself in New Ashok Nagar, you might pass by B-140/C where Home India Handicrafts is located. It is a bit of a maze around here, with all the lanes looking similar, but we have been here long enough that everyone in the neighborhood knows the spot. The building is older, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it serves its purpose for us. Inside, it is mostly shelves filled with various items we have gathered or made. It isn't a showroom; it is more of a working warehouse where things are being wrapped in bubble wrap and tucked into cartons. The air usually smells a bit like wood or dried glue, depending on what we are working on that week. We don't have a big marketing team or anyone to answer phones with a script. It is usually just one of us shouting across the room to see if an order is ready for the courier. New Ashok Nagar is always buzzing, especially in the evenings when the local markets open up. We try to finish our work before the rush starts. Sometimes we get behind, and the lights stay on late into the night. It is just how it is when you are dealing with handmade stuff. Every piece is a bit different, so it takes time to check everything. We just keep our heads down and work through the pile. It is a decent place.
