Raaz Handicraft. Our place is at No. 9/588, Krishna Gali No. 3. This is in the Gandhi Nagar area. It’s a tight squeeze in these lanes. You have to watch out for the rickshaws and carts. We work with our hands mostly. There’s always the smell of raw materials and glue in the air. We make different things, whatever is in demand. The workshop is also where we keep the finished pieces. It’s not very organized, but we know where everything is. My brothers and I run the show. We usually have the radio playing in the background while we work. The light isn't great in the Gali, so we have big lamps inside. We don't have a showroom. People who know us just come directly to the door. It’s a lot of hours, sometimes we stay past midnight to finish an order. The walls are stained with years of work. We aren't trying to be famous. We just want to make decent stuff that lasts. Gandhi Nagar is a busy place for traders, so there's always something happening outside. We drink a lot of chai to keep going. It’s a simple life, focused on the craft. We take pride in what we do, even if it’s just in a small room in a narrow street. The work can be tiring but seeing a finished item makes us feel good. That is how we have always done things here at Raaz.
