Being near the temple means we see a lot of people every day, especially during festivals when the whole street is packed with devotees. We focus on making sweets that people need for their prayers or just for a quick snack at home. Our counters are always filled with trays of different items, and we try to keep things fresh as much as we can throughout the week. The shop isn't very large, so it can feel a bit tight when more than three people are inside at the same time. We also do catering for small gatherings around the area. It’s mostly just us family members and a few helpers running the show. We don’t have a fancy business plan; we just make what people ask for when they come in. Some days are slow, and we just sit and watch the traffic go by. Other days, we can’t keep up with the demand for jalebis. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, and the display glass gets smudged, but we’re more focused on what’s happening in the kitchen. We’ve been here long enough that everyone in the neighborhood knows where we are. It’s just a honest way to make a living.
