Birla Cement

We've been over here at Sandipan Hati E/18 in the Cement Park area of Durgapur for a while now. Most people know the City Center spot pretty well, but we are tucked back where the actual work happens. It's a bit dusty, obviously, because that is just the nature of dealing with Birla Cement every single day. My desk is usually covered in a thin layer of gray by the afternoon, no matter how many times we wipe it down. We spend most of our time coordinating trucks and making sure the inventory counts are right. It’s not a fancy office at all. There are a few plastic chairs for when people stop by to talk about their construction projects. Durgapur is growing fast, and you can see it with all the building going on around us. Sometimes the weather gets really humid, and that makes moving the bags a real pain for the guys outside. We just keep the fan running and try to stay on top of the paperwork. People come in asking for quotes or just to see when the next shipment is arriving from the plant. It is a straightforward job, really. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us here near the City Center making sure the supplies get where they need to go without too much trouble. Sometimes the phone rings off the hook, and other days it is quiet enough to actually hear the birds outside the warehouse.
