Out here in Karoli village, things move at their own pace. Nimar Ecofarm Producer Company Limited is run right out of Sachin Hiralal’s place. We aren't doing anything flashy. We just care about the land in Manawar and how we grow things. Most of us grew up here and we want to keep the soil good for the next generation. It’s a lot of manual labor and sometimes my back hurts after a long day in the fields. We talk about seeds and compost more than anything else. Being a producer company means we can pool our resources together, which helps when we need to get things to the market. It’s better than trying to do everything alone. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to make a living in Karoli without ruining the ground we stand on. Sometimes the rains don't come when they should and we all have to figure out a plan B. That is just life in the village. We have a small team and everyone knows everyone. If you come by, you’ll probably find us sorting through things or talking about the next planting cycle. It is simple work but it keeps us busy from sunrise to sunset. We just do what needs to be done. We focus on the soil and the water and the way the seasons change every single year. It keeps us grounded and busy.
