Jagruk Kisan is run from Khandlai village. We are located at the house of Laxman, who is the son of Neniya Ningwal. It’s a family-oriented place here in Tehsil Gandhwani. The name means being aware, and that’s what we try to be about the farming business. We gather around the village spot to talk about what’s happening with the crops. It’s very local. We don't have a big budget for things like office furniture. We mostly sit where we can. The dust from the road gets everywhere, but we don't mind much. Everyone in Khandlai knows Laxman’s place. We deal with the local farmers who have been working these fields for generations. It’s about sticking together so we don't get pushed around by the big buyers. We handle the collection of the produce and try to get it to the market in one go. It’s a lot of coordination on the phone and in person. Sometimes the network is bad, so we just walk over to each other's houses. We don't have any polished speeches. We just talk about the dirt, the seeds, and the prices. That’s what matters to us in Gandhwani. It’s a hard life sometimes, but we are doing it together now. We just keep our heads down and work. It isn't much, but it belongs to us and our community.
