Wellcome Mens Saloon

Wellcome Mens Saloon is situated in Lal Kothi on Bank More Road in Dhanbad. This is a very central spot, and most people around here pass by us at least once a day. We have been cutting hair and doing shaves for the men of this town for a long time. The building itself, Lal Kothi, is well known in the area. Our shop has that old-fashioned feel to it, with big mirrors and heavy chairs that have seen thousands of customers. We keep the tools on a small trolley that we wheel around. The walls are a simple color and we have a few posters of different hairstyles, though most people just ask for the same thing every time. It’s a place where you can hear all the local gossip and what is happening in the markets. We don't use any of those modern machines for everything; we still rely on a good pair of scissors and a sharp razor. The ceiling fan wobbles a little bit when it’s on the high setting, but it does the job. On hot days, the door stays wide open to catch any breeze from the street. We see a lot of the same faces every month, and we’ve seen some of the kids grow up into men. It’s a steady kind of work, and we like being right here on Bank More Road. We aren't looking to change much.
