Friends Voyage

Friends Voyage is situated over in Madan Gir. It’s a lively neighborhood, maybe a bit crowded, but it’s got a good spirit to it. We started this because we wanted to work for ourselves and stay close to the community. Our office isn't much to look at—just a few desks, some maps on the wall that are probably out of date, and a phone that never seems to stop ringing. We handle travel stuff, mostly just sorting out where people need to go and how they’re going to get there without too much trouble. It’s a lot of looking at schedules and trying to find the best routes. Sometimes things go wrong with a booking and we have to spend the whole afternoon on the phone, which isn't fun, but it’s part of the job. We don’t try to act like we are some global travel agency. We’re just local people helping our neighbors and anyone else who stops by. We drink a lot of chai and talk to the people who come in. It’s more about the people than the destination half the time. We’ve had some long days here, especially during the busy seasons, but we like the work. It’s honest and it keeps us connected to the world outside Madan Gir.
