We are based at 190/4 on Kali Das Road in Dehradun City. It’s a fairly quiet residential street, which is nice for a place where little kids come to learn. The house was converted into a school a while back, so it still has a bit of a homey feel to it, even with the classrooms. We have some bright colors on the walls to make it look cheerful, but they get dirty pretty fast with all the little hands touching everything. There is a small area outside with a slide and some swings, though they could probably use a bit of oil since they squeak a lot when the kids use them. Dehradun gets quite cold in the winter months, so we spend a lot of time making sure the kids stay warm and the rooms are closed up tight against the draft. During the day, it's mostly the sound of children singing or playing with blocks on the mats. We don't have any big corporate systems or complicated rules in place. It’s just us teachers and the helpers taking care of the little ones and teaching them their basics. The office is just a small room with a desk and some shelves for the kids' files and a box of lost and found items. We handle things as they come up throughout the day. It’s a simple, honest little school where we just try to give the children a decent place to be while their parents are away at their own jobs. Sometimes we even get tea.
