North Point Childrens Academy

Up here on Tapkeshwar Road in Dehradun, the air feels a bit different than in the main city. North Point Childrens Academy is located at number 50, and it’s a spot where a lot of local kids start their schooling. Being in 248001, we get all kinds of weather, from the heavy rains in monsoon to the chilly mornings in winter. The kids arrive wrapped in their sweaters, ready for the day. Our academy isn’t one of those massive institutions you see in movies. It’s a smaller, more personal place where the staff knows every child’s name. We have some play areas and classrooms that are filled with drawings and posters the kids have made. It can get a bit noisy when the little ones are out for their break, but that’s a good sign. The road outside can get busy with people heading towards the temple area, but once you’re inside our gates, it’s all about the kids. We spend our time making sure they have their lessons and some space to run around. It’s a lot of daily chores, like fixing broken chairs or making sure the water coolers are full. We don’t use any corporate talk here. We are just a group of people in Dehradun trying to give the children a decent place to learn and grow up. It can be exhausting sometimes, but when you see them finally reading on their own, it feels alright.
