Our office is right by the Rashbehari Crossing, at No. 152 S.P. Mukherjee Road, which is a pretty loud part of Kolkata if you know the city. It’s a lot of traffic and people shouting, but inside we just try to keep things organized. We handle a lot of technical stuff, mostly biotech supplies and lab equipment that people need for their research projects. It’s not the kind of place with a lot of decorations on the walls. Most of the shelf space is taken up by heavy boxes and technical manuals. We spend a lot of time on the phone with suppliers or trying to figure out why a delivery is stuck in traffic near the crossing. It’s just a handful of us working here. Sometimes we grab tea from the stall downstairs when the afternoon gets slow and the heat is bad. We’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years, but our daily routine stays mostly the same. We check the orders, log the inventory, and try to make sure we didn't miss a decimal point on the invoices. It gets a bit cramped when a big shipment arrives and we have to stack things in the hallway. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there. We just want to make sure the local labs get what they ordered without too many headaches. It’s a practical way to spend the day.
