Down in Singhwara, specifically in the village of Bishunathpatti, is where you will find us. We go by Singhwara Mango Farmers Producer Company Limited. Our spot is in the Tola-Bishunathpattblock area of Darbhanga. It is a place filled with mango trees, as you might guess from the name. Most of the folks involved are just local farmers who have lived in this part of Darbhanga for their whole lives. The work varies depending on the season, but right now we are keeping busy with the trees and making sure everything is moving along. We are not some big corporation from the city. We are just a group of people in Bishunathpatti trying to make a go of it with the mangoes. Sometimes the roads are a bit rough getting into the village, especially after the rains, but we manage just fine. It can get pretty noisy during the harvest when everyone is out in the groves. We have our meetings right here in the village, sitting around and talking about what needs to be done next. It isn't a formal thing usually. We just meet up and sort out the day's tasks. Being in Singhwara means we are close to the land and the fruit. It is quiet for most of the year until the fruit starts to ripen. Then everything changes and it gets very frantic around here for a few months. That is the life of a mango farmer in Bihar.
