Yvs Spices & Company is based right on Audiapa Naicken Street in George Town. If you’ve ever been to this part of Chennai, you know how tight the lanes are and how busy it stays from morning until night. It’s a real squeeze sometimes getting things delivered because of the traffic. Our place is old, like most of the buildings around here, but it has a lot of character. We deal with spices all day, so the air always has that sharp, peppery smell that sticks to your clothes. We don't have a modern showroom or anything. It's more like a warehouse with a small space for us to sit. We’ve been in George Town for a long time, and we’ve seen shops come and go, but we just keep doing what we do. The noise from the street is constant—horns, people shouting, carts moving—but you get used to it after a week. It’s a hard way to work sometimes, especially when it’s humid and the spice dust gets everywhere. But this is the heart of the trade, so we wouldn't want to be anywhere else. We just open up in the morning, do the work, and close when the sun goes down. It's a simple life, even if it's a bit loud and messy sometimes. We just worry about the next shipment and making sure the sacks are stored away from the damp floor. It's just how business goes down here in the city.
