We've been running this stone yard over in Sholavaram for a while now. If you head down Kammarpalayam Road and look for Padma Sundar Nagar, you'll find us tucked into Ps Garden. It’s not a fancy place, mostly just rows of granite slabs leaning against each other. The dust is a constant battle here, especially when the wind picks up across the yard. We spend our mornings checking the inventory and moving things around with the crane. It’s heavy, loud work, but there’s something about the way a fresh piece of stone looks when you first spray it with water to show the color. My brother and I started this with just a couple of small machines. Now we have more, but the work is still mostly the same. We don’t have a big marketing department or anyone to write glossy brochures. We just show the stone as it is. Some pieces have natural cracks or odd spots because that's how they came out of the ground. We tell folks that right away so there aren't surprises later on. The tea stall down the road is where we usually end up in the afternoons when the sun gets too hot. Dealing with granite is simple in a way. You cut it, you polish it, and you hope it fits where it's supposed to go. We're just local people trying to make a living with what we know.
