Rayan Tile Bazaar

Rayan Tile Bazaar is located right on Jawaharlal Nehru Road in Arumbakkam, so it is pretty easy to find if you are driving past. The shop is filled with stacks of tiles in all sorts of sizes and patterns. It gets a bit dusty sometimes because of all the ceramic and stone being moved around, but that is just how it is in this trade. We spend most of our mornings unloading trucks and checking if anything got chipped during the trip. Customers come in looking for something for a bathroom or a kitchen floor, and we just show them what we have in the back or on the display racks. There is no air conditioning in the main storage area, so it stays pretty warm during the day. We usually have a radio playing somewhere in the background to keep things lively. Working here means you get used to the heavy lifting. It is a straightforward business. We do not have a big fancy showroom with bright lights, just the actual tiles so people can see what they are getting. Sometimes the traffic outside on the main road is so loud we have to shout a bit to be heard, but we manage. We have seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years, but the shop stays pretty much the same. Just us, the tiles, and whoever walks through the door needing a few boxes for their home project.
