Granstones

Granstones is located at No 117, Senthil Nagar, right on the J N Salai 100 Feet Road in Choolaimedu. It's a very busy road, so there's always the sound of trucks and cars zooming past. Our yard is filled with large slabs of granite and other stones. It’s a heavy business, quite literally. We spend most of our time moving these pieces around with the crane or cutting them down to size for various projects. There's always a thin layer of stone dust on everything, including our shoes. Choolaimedu is a lively neighborhood, and being on the 100 Feet Road means we're easy to spot. We don't have a fancy showroom with bright lights. Most of our stones are kept outside where you can see the natural colors in the sunlight. We’ve been here for a good while, watching the road get busier every year. People come by when they're building a new house or fixing up a kitchen. We show them what we have in stock, and sometimes we have to tell them to wait a week if a specific color is coming from the quarry. It’s hard work, especially in the heat, but there’s something satisfying about seeing a raw piece of rock turn into something useful. We keep a small office at the back to handle the paperwork, but you'll mostly find us out in the yard. We usually finish up when the traffic starts to peak in the evening.
