Vinagaya Engineers

Our workshop is at No: 19 on Palanti Amman Kovil Street. It’s a quiet enough street most days, sitting right there near the Perumal Kovil in Pallikaranai. Being engineers, our space is usually full of drawings, tools, and pieces of metal. Vinagaya Engineers isn't a high-tech lab; it’s more of a place where things actually get built and fixed. You can often hear the bells from the temple while we’re working, which is a nice backdrop to the sound of the drills. We started small and stayed that way because we like being able to see everything that’s going on. The floor is usually covered in metal shavings by the afternoon. We don't spend money on fancy furniture or decor. The money goes into the tools and the materials we use. Sometimes people from the neighborhood pop in just to see what we’re making. We don't mind as long as they stay clear of the machines for safety. The weather in Pallikaranai can be tricky, so we have to watch out for the humidity affecting the steel and iron. We just keep our heads down and focus on the precision of the work. It’s not about being the fastest, just about making sure the parts fit exactly like they’re supposed to. That's the way we've always done it here on Palanti Amman Kovil Street. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know best and we keep at it every day.
