Asst. Engineer

I am based out of Saidapet in Chennai, specifically at 04/09 Duraisamy Garden. If you know Chennai, you know Saidapet is always humming with people and traffic. My office as an Asst. Engineer is a small, functional place tucked away in the garden area, which is a bit quieter than the main streets. The pin code here is 600015. It’s not a big glass building or anything like that. It’s just a regular room where I keep my tools, drawings, and a laptop. Most of my day is spent figuring out local engineering problems or going through site plans. The humidity in Chennai can be pretty brutal, so the windows stay open to catch whatever breeze comes through Duraisamy Garden. It’s a very local way of working. I don’t have a big corporate staff helping me out. It’s just about getting the engineering work done for the people who need it around here. Sometimes the neighbors come by for a chat, or I’m out on a site visit for most of the afternoon. There is always some noise from the nearby shops, but you get used to it after a while. I’ve lived and worked in this part of Chennai for quite some time now, and I like that it’s a real, lived-in neighborhood. Everything is simple and focused on the tasks at hand without any unnecessary polish or fancy talk.
