Tidal Engineering

We are over at No. 9- A Thiruvalluvar Street in Tmp Nagar, Padi. Tidal Engineering is basically a workshop where we do a lot of mechanical work. It’s not a very large building, just a practical space for our machines. The floor is concrete and usually has some oil spots here and there. We have a few lathes and drills that we use every day. It gets pretty loud when everything is running at once. Padi is an industrial kind of area, so we fit right in with the other shops on Thiruvalluvar Street. I've been working here for a while. We don't wear suits; it’s just work shirts and trousers. Most of our day is spent measuring parts and making sure the cuts are right. Sometimes a customer drops by with a drawing on a piece of scrap paper. We just do our best to make what they need. There’s a small desk in the front where we keep the ledger, but most of the action happens in the back. The sun hits the metal roof in the afternoon and it gets quite warm. We usually have the radio playing to keep things lively. We’ve been at this location in Tmp Nagar for years. It’s a steady job. We don't have any big corporate goals, just finishing the parts on time. That’s how it is at our place. We close up around six and head home like everyone else.
