You’ll find us on the second floor of 43/44 Veerappan Street. It’s right in the heart of Sowcarpet, which is always a bit of a madhouse no matter what time it is. Getting up to room 309 can be a bit of a workout if the lift is acting up again, which happens more than we'd like. We’ve been here for a long time now. Sowcarpet is known for its heavy crowds, and Veerappan Street is no exception to that rule. Our office at Vardhaman Impex Chennai is filled with rows of files and various product samples. It’s a working office, not some fancy showroom. We deal with a lot of imports and exports, so there’s always a mountain of paperwork on everyone’s desk. The old ceiling fans hum all day to try and keep the Chennai heat away. Sometimes we have to shout to be heard over the noise of the carts and people on the street below. It’s a very local, hands-on way of doing business. We know the tea seller downstairs and the guys who haul the heavy loads for us. We don’t use any of that fancy corporate talk here. We just talk like regular people. The space is a bit tight, especially when we have a lot of new stock coming in at once. We try to keep things moving as best as we can. Most days are just a cycle of emails, phone calls, and checking on the status of orders. It’s a practical, busy life.
