We've been at No. 4 Vaikunta Vadiyar Street for a long time now. If you're looking for us, we are right across from the Elephant Gate Police Station. It's a busy spot. The traffic gets a bit much sometimes, but we are used to the noise by now. We handle a lot of canvas here. Most days start early before the sun gets too high. The shop floor is usually covered in scraps. It's not the cleanest place, but work gets done. My father used to say the police station is the easiest landmark because nobody gets lost. People come in and out, asking for different sizes. We just grab the measuring tape and get to it. Sometimes we run out of tea by noon. The walls could use some paint, honestly. We don't spend much time worrying about the decor. The sewing machines have their own rhythm. You get used to the hum after a while. It's just a regular shop where people know what they need and we try to provide it. We stay open until the street lights come on. It’s a simple life. No fancy meetings here. Just canvas and thread. Sometimes the dust gets in your throat, but that's part of the trade. We’ve known the neighbors for years. Everyone around Elephant Gate knows where we are. We keep things moving. The ceiling fan wobbles a bit when it's on high speed, but it keeps us cool enough.
