V Stone

V Stone is located over at No.120/1 on Mullai Street in Choolaimedu. It is on Periyarpathai, which is a busy little stretch. We deal with stones, mostly for flooring and counters. If you walk into our yard, you’ll see slabs leaning against the walls. It’s quite heavy work and there is always a bit of dust in the air. We don't have a big fancy office with air conditioning. It’s mostly just us out here showing people the different patterns in the granite or marble. Some pieces have cracks or marks that we have to point out so people know what they are getting. We’ve been here in Choolaimedu for a good few years now. The neighbors know us because of the sound of the saws sometimes. We try to keep the noise down in the evenings. It’s a family-run kind of thing. My uncle started it and now we just carry on. We don't really do much marketing. Usually, people just see the slabs from the street and stop their bikes to take a look. We have a small desk where we do the bills, but most of the time we are standing outside. It’s work moving these things around, but it’s what we do. We try to be fair with the prices. If someone wants a small piece for a shelf, we usually find something in the scrap pile for them so it doesn't go to waste. It stays busy enough for us.
