Thugiil Trimmings

Thugiil Trimmings is located at No. 15 Dr. B. N. Road in the T-Nagar area. Anyone who lives in Chennai knows that T-Nagar is probably the busiest place you can find. Our shop is small and focused on the little things like trimmings, borders, and all the bits that go onto clothes to make them look finished. We have thousands of little items stored in plastic bins and small drawers. It can take a bit of time to find exactly the right shade of thread or the specific type of lace someone wants, but we know our way around the shelves. The shop can feel a bit cramped because we try to stock so many different varieties. During the festival seasons, the street outside is so crowded you can barely move, and the noise of the traffic and the shoppers is constant. We usually have a radio playing in the background to keep us company while we sort through new arrivals. It’s a lot of repetitive work, counting out buttons or measuring lace, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We don't really have a big sign or anything flashy. Most people find us by word of mouth or because they were already in T-Nagar for other shopping. We just open the shutters in the morning and stay until the last customer leaves in the evening. It’s just us doing our thing on Dr. B. N. Road.
