Thiruseven Hills Polytechnic College

Thiruseven Hills Polytechnic College is located on Alapakkam Road in Maduravoyal, over in Chennai. It’s a busy part of the city, and the college sits right in the thick of it. We have a lot of workshops because it’s a polytechnic place, so there’s often the sound of machines or tools being used. It can get quite hot in the workshops, especially in the middle of a Chennai summer, so everyone is usually sweating by noon. The floors are concrete and sometimes have a bit of oil or grease on them from the practical lessons. Students wear their uniforms and carry their bags between the different blocks. We have a small canteen where everyone goes for a quick snack or a tea. The building isn't brand new, you can see some cracks here and there, but it holds up well enough. The traffic on Alapakkam Road is always a headache, so getting in and out of the gate can take a minute. We don’t have a lot of fancy words for what we do. It’s just a place where people learn how to work with their hands and understand how things are built. Most of the staff has been here for years and they know the equipment inside out. It’s just a hard-working spot in a busy part of Tamil Nadu where we try to keep things running smoothly.
