The Madras Medical Mission Hospital

Out here in Mogappair East, specifically at 4- A JJ Nagar, things stay pretty hectic from Monday to Saturday. This hospital is a big part of the local landscape in Mogappairn, and you can’t really miss the building if you’re driving through the neighborhood. We have a lot of different departments, so there are always people rushing through the corridors with clipboards and charts. It’s a bit of a maze if you aren’t used to it. The staff is mostly local people who live nearby, so there’s a lot of chatter in the canteen about local news and the traffic on the main road. We spend a lot of time coordinating between the different floors and making sure the lab results get to the right doctors. It’s a lot of walking, and by the end of a shift, everyone is usually pretty worn out. The waiting areas are usually full of families sitting together, sometimes sharing food or just waiting for news. We try to keep the place clean, but with so many people coming in and out of JJ Nagar, it’s a constant battle. It’s not a shiny, perfect place you see on television; it’s a real working hospital with all the usual stress and small victories. Sometimes the elevators are slow, and you end up taking the stairs just to save time. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing every day.
