Swastic Tailoring School

Swastic Tailoring School is over in Thiru Nagar, which is in the Tiruvottiyur area. We are not a big institution, just a local spot where people come to learn about fabric and sewing. The neighborhood of Thiru Nagar is quite busy, and Tiruvottiyur as a whole always has a lot of energy. Our space is filled with the sound of sewing machines running and the snip of scissors through different types of cloth. We have various tables set up where people can sit and work on their patterns. It is not a very polished environment, as there are often threads on the floor and scraps of material piled in the corners. We like it that way because it shows that work is actually getting done. People from around Tiruvottiyur walk in to ask about classes or to see what we are working on at the moment. We don't have a mission statement or anything like that; we just teach people how to stitch and hem properly. The lighting in the room is bright so everyone can see their needles clearly. Sometimes it gets a bit cramped when there are many people inside at once, but we make do with the space we have. It is a simple, practical school for anyone interested in the trade of tailoring. We stay open until the evening, usually finishing up whatever project is currently on the machines before locking the door and turning out the lights.
