Sunrise Granite & Marbles

At Sunrise Granite & Marbles, we spend a lot of our time on our feet. The yard is out on Redhills Main Road in Sanmugapuram. It is number 197/12 if you are looking for the main gate. The sun hits the granite slabs in the afternoon and makes them almost too hot to touch. We have to use thick gloves most of the time to move anything. The trucks coming off the main road kick up a lot of grit and dust. My boots are always covered in that fine white powder that comes from cutting the marble. We have some really big pieces of stone that have been sitting here for months. They are beautiful to look at, but they are so heavy we need the crane just to move them an inch. I worry about that crane sometimes; it makes a loud rattling noise that I don't particularly like. Sanmugapuram is a decent place to work. It is not as crowded as the city center, but Redhills Main Road is always busy with people commuting. I see the same bus drivers go by every day at the exact same time. My desk is in a small shack at the very edge of the yard. It has a tin roof, so when it rains, it sounds like a drum set is going off over my head. I have to keep the paperwork in plastic folders so it does not get damp or dirty.
