My office is at 8/1 on Vidyaranya Second Main Road in Kasturaba Nagar. It’s a quiet spot, which is how I like it. As S.Subramaniam, I’ve been handling architectural work from this location for quite some time now. It’s not a big operation with dozens of employees; it’s more of a personal setup where I can focus on one thing at a time. My desk is usually a mess of pens, scales, and rolls of tracing paper. I still like to sketch things out by hand before I move them to the computer. It feels more real that way. People in the neighborhood know where to find me if they need help with a renovation or a new build. I don’t go in for big advertisements or anything like that. Most people hear about me from someone else I’ve worked with. I spend a lot of my time traveling between the office and various construction sites to make sure things are moving along as they should. Sometimes the laborers have questions, or the materials don't show up on time, and I have to sort it out. It’s a lot of responsibility, but I’ve been doing it long enough that I don’t get rattled too easily. I just try to provide honest work and make sure the buildings are solid and functional. I'm usually around if you want to drop by and talk about a project, provided I'm not out at a site.
