Srisainath Hospital

Srisainath Hospital is located at No 11 Nichols 4th Lane in Chennai. If you know these narrow lanes, you know it can be a bit tight getting through, but we’ve been here a long time. It’s a multi-story building but not very wide. We have beds for people who need to stay the night and a small area for emergencies. I spend most of my day near the entrance. The air in Chennai is always a bit salty and warm, so we keep the windows closed and the cooling on. It’s a busy place. Doctors are always running up and down the stairs. We have an elevator, but it’s small, so most people just use the steps. The walls are painted a plain off-white color. It’s not the kind of place that looks like a hotel; it looks like a hospital. We have a pharmacy section where people get their medicine before they head home. Sometimes the street outside gets blocked by a delivery truck, and there’s a lot of honking. But inside, we just keep working. We see a lot of people from the local neighborhood who have been coming to us for years. They know the nurses by name. It’s a lot of work keeping everything clean and organized, especially with so many people coming in and out every hour. It’s just a part of the life here on Nichols 4th Lane.
