Sri Vardhaman Marbles

You can find us on Peters Road in Gopalapuram, right across the street from the Saravana Bhavan Hotel. We are located at New No 298, which used to be No 145 back in the day. Being right opposite such a famous hotel means there is always a crowd nearby, especially during lunch hours. Our shop is filled with marble slabs that we’ve brought in for people to use in their homes. It is a family-run kind of place, and we’ve been here for many years. We don't have any corporate polish or fancy displays. We just lean the marble against the walls and move it around when someone wants to see a particular piece. It is hard work because marble is incredibly heavy, but it is what we do every day. We spend a lot of time talking to customers about the different stones and where they come from. We don't use any sales pitches; we just let the stone speak for itself. Sometimes we sit outside on a stool and watch the traffic go by when things are a bit slow. We know most of the other shopkeepers around here, and it feels like a real community. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in town; we just want to do our job well and help our neighbors with their flooring needs. It is a simple life and we are happy with it. We have a lot of stories from over the years about the different people who have come through our doors. Some want expensive marble and some just want a small piece for a shelf.
