Sri Narayana Cuddapah Store

Sri Narayana Cuddapah Store is located over at the Rsm Complex on Thadagam Main Road. We’re in the 2/877 D unit, right there in Kovilampakkam. It’s a busy spot with plenty of people moving about all day. We deal mostly with Cuddapah stones, which are heavy and need careful handling so they don’t chip at the edges. The shop isn't very large, but we pack a lot into it. You’ll see the stacks of dark stone as soon as you walk up. It’s mostly just us here, moving pieces around and making sure the sizes are right for whoever walks in. People from the neighborhood come by when they’re fixing up their floors or putting in new kitchen counters. We spend a lot of time swept up in stone dust. It gets under everything. The traffic on Thadagam Main Road can get pretty backed up in the evenings, so we usually try to get our loading done earlier in the day if we can. It’s straightforward work. No one wears suits here. We’re usually in old clothes because of the grit. Sometimes we have tea brought in from the stall nearby while we wait for a delivery. It’s a simple life running a stone store. We know the regulars and we know which stones are the hardest to cut. That’s about it for us.
