Our place is at No. 1, Bharathi Nagar, right where Tharamani Link Road meets the 100 Feet Road. It’s a very busy intersection, so there’s never a quiet moment around here. We have a lot of different stones like marble and granite sitting out in the yard. The 100 Feet Road brings in all kinds of people, from contractors to families looking to redo their floors. We spend most of our time out there in the heat, moving slabs and showing off the different grains and colors. It’s a tough job because the stone is so heavy and you can’t afford to drop anything. We use a lot of water for the cutting and polishing, so the ground is often wet and messy. We aren't some big corporation with polished floors in the showroom. Our showroom is mostly the open air and the stacks of stone themselves. People seem to like that they can see exactly what they are getting. We keep a small office for the ledger and for when we need a break from the sun. Most of us have been working with stone for years, so we can tell the quality just by looking at it. It’s a simple life, focused on the slabs and the customers who come through our gate. We just try to keep the stock full and the prices fair for everyone. Sometimes we stay late just to finish a specific cut.
