Sri Kokila Coffee

Sri Kokila Coffee is situated on Dr Rangachari Road in Mylapore. We are at numbers 8/1 and 27, right in the Alamelu Mangapuram area. It’s quite close to the Sai Baba Temple, so on Thursdays it gets incredibly busy with all the devotees around. We can hear the temple bells from the shop sometimes. We’ve been part of the Mylapore scene for a while now. The shop itself is pretty modest. We have the usual grinders and sacks of beans piled up. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so you’ll usually see the same two or three people every time you visit. We don't have a big marketing strategy, we just rely on the fact that people know our location. The street is old and has a lot of character, just like our shop. We spend our time weighing out coffee and talking to the regulars who have been coming for years. Sometimes the humidity makes the beans a bit tricky to grind, but we’ve figured out how to handle it. It’s a very local atmosphere here. We don't use fancy uniforms or anything, just our regular clothes. We keep things clean as best as we can, but a coffee shop always has some grounds on the floor. It’s just how it goes. We are happy to be near the temple and part of this neighborhood's daily life. It is not always easy, but we manage to get everything done before we close up.
