Shree Geetha Cafe

We are located at Number 7 on Andiyappa Gramani Street in Royapuram. We are right across from the Royapuram Bus Stand, which is a very busy place in Chennai. All day long, you can hear the buses pulling in and the conductors shouting out destinations. We open the cafe very early in the morning because that is when the commuters need their first cup of coffee or a quick breakfast. The cafe is simple, with some old wooden tables and chairs and walls that could probably use a fresh coat of paint. We don't have any air conditioning, just some ceiling fans that hum all day to keep the Chennai heat away. It’s a small team here, mostly just a few of us in the kitchen and one or two people serving the customers. We don’t use any fancy machines; everything is done the traditional way. We spend a lot of time cleaning up after the morning rush and getting ready for the lunch crowd. It’s a very routine kind of life, but we like seeing the same people every day. Most of our customers are bus drivers, workers, and locals who live in the Royapuram area. We don't have any brochures or a website. If people like the food and the coffee, they come back, and that’s how we’ve stayed in business. It’s just an honest little cafe on a busy street corner.
