Spices Lab

Starting Spices Lab inside Fernhill Apartment was a bit of a squeeze at first. We are located at number 1 on Rajarathinam Street, right in the heart of Kilpauk. It is a busy area, so there is always some traffic noise coming through the windows. Being in an apartment means we have to be very organized with our space. We have shelves lined up against almost every wall to hold the different jars and packets. Kilpauk is a good spot because people can find us easily, though parking on Rajarathinam Street is always a bit of a headache. We spend a lot of time testing different batches. It is mostly just us sitting around a big table, looking at the quality and making sure everything is clean. We aren't a big factory or anything like that. It’s more of a small setup where we can keep an eye on everything ourselves. Sometimes the smell of the spices gets really strong in the hallway, and we hope the neighbors don't mind too much. Most days are just about filling orders and checking the inventory lists. We use a small scale that we’ve had for years. It’s a bit old but it still works fine. People sometimes drop by Fernhill Apartment to ask what we do, and we just show them the bags we are packing. It is a simple life here in Kilpauk, just doing one thing and trying to do it right every day.
