Soorya Marbles

Soorya Marbles is located at No. 1C on Seethakkadi Street. We are in the Vigneshwara Nagar area of Porur. If you have ever been to Porur, you know how the traffic can be, but our street is a little bit set back from the main chaos. Our yard is filled with big slabs of marble and granite leaning against the walls. It is a very physical business. We spend most of the day moving these heavy stones around, which is hard on the back and the hands. There is always a lot of white dust in the air from when we have to trim a piece or polish an edge for a customer. We don't have a fancy office with air conditioning. Usually, we just sit on some plastic chairs near the entrance where we can see people coming in from the street. Customers come to us looking for something nice for their floors or their kitchen counters. We show them what we have in the stacks, and we talk about the different colors and patterns that come naturally in the stone. It is not like selling something out of a box; every piece is a bit different. We have been in this spot in Vigneshwara Nagar for some time now, and we have seen the neighborhood change quite a bit. Despite the changes, we just keep doing the same thing, moving stone and helping people finish their homes.
