Soni Marble & Granites

Soni Marble & Granites is right on P. H. Road in Arumbakkam, at number 558. If you know this part of town, you know the traffic is usually a mess, but it makes it easy for people to spot us. We spend most of our time surrounded by big slabs of stone. There is dust everywhere, no matter how many times we try to sweep it up, but that is just how it is when you work with marble and granite. We keep different types of stone in the yard. Some days are very quiet and we just sit around drinking tea, but other days are a total rush to get everything loaded onto the trucks. Moving these heavy pieces is hard work, and you have to be very careful not to chip any of the edges. We have been in this location for a good while and the locals know our faces by now. We do not have a fancy showroom with bright lights and air conditioning. It is mostly just the warehouse and the open space where we store the stock. People come in looking for something for their house, like a kitchen counter or floor tiles, and we show them what is available at the moment. It is very straightforward. We help them pick something, talk about the price, and figure out when it can be delivered. It gets noisy with the cutting machines, so we often have to shout to hear each other.
