Site Engineer

We are located on Vembuli Amman Kovil Street, right near the Kuppam Beach Road in Thiruvanmiyur. You can feel the salt in the air here. I’ve been working as a site engineer in this part of Chennai for quite some time now. The street is busy, and my place at Dno157 is always a bit cluttered with blueprints and site maps. It’s a beach area, so the soil can be tricky sometimes. You have to know what you’re doing when you dig the foundation. I don't have a marketing person. I just go to the sites and talk to the people who are building their homes. Sometimes the weather is against us, especially when the monsoon hits. We just wait it out and get back to work as soon as the sun comes out. It’s not a corporate setup at all. It is just a local business where we care about the bricks and the cement. I spend my mornings checking on the progress of different projects around the neighborhood. If you walk down towards the beach, you might see us working on a pillar. My clothes usually have some cement dust on them by lunch. That is just the way the job goes. We take it one day at a time. It’s about making sure the walls are straight and the owners are satisfied with the progress they see. Chennai is a big city, but we keep it simple here.
