About Shriram Coffee – Food & Beverages in Chennai
Shriram Coffee is situated at 6, Selva Vinayagar Street in Perungalathur. It’s a residential street mostly, so things are pretty quiet until the morning rush starts. I open up early because people around here want their coffee powder before they head off to work in the city. The shop is quite narrow, so I have to be careful how I stack the bags. We’ve got an old grinding machine that’s been with us for a long time. It still works fine, even if it shakes a little bit when it’s running full speed. I spend a lot of time just scooping beans into the top and catching the powder in plastic bags at the bottom. My apron is always covered in brown dust by ten in the morning. People usually just stand on the street and talk while they wait for their turn. There isn’t much room to sit inside, and we don’t really intend for people to stay long. It’s more of a quick stop-and-go kind of place. Sometimes the neighbor’s cat comes in and sits on the sack of beans, and I have to shoo it away. It’s just a simple, honest business on a regular street. We don’t do anything flashy, just the same work we’ve been doing for years. Usually, we close up once the evening rush dies down and the street gets dark.
