Shree Stone Inc. is located over in West Mambalam on Chakrapani Street Extension. If you know this part of Chennai, you know the streets can be a bit narrow and crowded. Getting our stone deliveries in here is sometimes a real challenge for the truck drivers, but we have figured out the timing over the years. We are at New No. 13, which used to be No. 4/3. It’s an old neighborhood and we fit right in with the other small businesses around here. Our space is packed with different stones. We don't have much room to spare, so everything is stacked pretty tight. It can be a bit overwhelming for someone walking in for the first time, but we know where everything is. We spend a lot of time talking to people who live right in the area. They drop by while they are out running errands to ask about prices or to see what new stock we got in. We aren't into the whole corporate way of doing things. We talk to you like a neighbor because that’s basically what we are. The shop has its quirks, like the floor that isn't quite level and the old fan that makes a lot of noise, but it’s home to us. We just focus on getting the stone cut and ready for whoever needs it. It’s a busy life in Mambalam, and we are just happy to be a part of it. There is always someone coming or going.
