Shree Ganesh Marbles & Granites

If you head down Medavakkam Main Road towards Madipakkam, you’ll find us at Ganesh Nagar. We are at number one, right on the corner. It’s a pretty lively area and there’s always something happening on the street. Our yard is packed with big slabs of marble and granite. They come in all sorts of greys, whites, and blacks. Moving these things takes a lot of effort and we use the crane a lot. It’s heavy work, and your back definitely feels it by the end of the day. We get a lot of dust on our clothes from the cutting and polishing, but that’s just part of the job. People come in from all over Madipakkam to look at the patterns in the stone. No two pieces are exactly the same, which is what makes it interesting. Sometimes we stand out there for an hour just helping someone pick the right slab for their kitchen or floor. The sun beats down on the stone and makes it hot to the touch in the afternoons. We have a small cabin where we keep the paperwork, but most of our time is spent outside among the rows of stone. It’s not a fancy setup. We just try to keep things moving and make sure the deliveries go out when we say they will. It’s a basic business run by people who know their stone. We’ve been part of this neighborhood for a long time.
