Saravana Coffee Co

Started the morning at Chitrakulam East Street. The temple bells are usually the first thing we hear before we even unlock the front door. We have been here in Mylapore for a good while, right near the Kapaleeshwarar Temple. It is a busy spot, especially during the festivals when you can hardly move on the street. Our shop is small and mostly filled with the smell of roasting beans. We spend the hours grinding and packing for the people who stop by after their morning prayers. There is no fancy decor or anything like that. Just some old shelves and the machines we use every day. Sometimes the rain leaks in a bit near the doorway, but we just put a bucket down and keep going. It is a very local kind of place. We know the people who live in the apartments nearby and the shopkeepers on the same lane. The traffic outside can be a real headache, especially when the delivery vans are trying to unload. We do things the old way because that is how we learned. There is a lot of dust from the road, so we spend a lot of time cleaning the glass jars. We don't put on any acts. It is just us, the coffee, and the daily grind of running a shop in this part of town. The heat in the afternoon can get pretty bad, but the coffee keeps us moving.
