Sam Marbles & Granites

If you’re driving along the 200 Feet Inner Ring Road in Kolathur, you might notice us. Sam Marbles & Granites is at No. 20, right across from DRJ Furniture in Ayppan Nagar. That road is always moving with cars and trucks, so there’s a lot of noise and dust. Our yard is pretty big to accommodate all the marble and granite we keep on hand. We have rows of slabs leaning against each other. You have to be careful walking through them. Every morning, we start by checking the orders for the day. We have to use the crane to lift the heavier pieces onto the back of the lorries. It’s a slow process because you don't want anything to chip. The granite is especially heavy. We get a lot of locals from Ayppan Nagar who are just doing a small renovation at home. We treat everyone the same, whether they want one piece or fifty. The office is just a small corner where we keep the receipts. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to sit in the shade of the slabs until it comes back. It’s a regular business. We aren't trying to be fancy. We just sell stone. People like that they can see exactly what they are buying before it gets sent to their site. It’s a busy life on the ring road.
